Theoretical & Practical courses available, including:
The two most popular forms of metal-cutting CNC machine tools include:
CNC machining centres, which machine a stationary work piece with a rotating cutting tool, CNC turning centres, which machine a rotating work piece with a stationary cutting tool. This course focuses on turning centres. Note that a similar course is available for machining centres.
Students will learn how to program CNC turning centres in four lessons using proven Outcome Based Learning Approach (as prescribed by MERSETA). The more you know about basic machining practices as they apply to turning operations, the easier it will be to learn to program a CNC turning centre. We emphasize manual programming (G code Level) techniques. It is with this style of CNC programming that you can be the most intimate with the CNC machine tool, commanding everything the machine will do from within your program. And a thorough understanding of manual programming is prerequisite for mastering any computer aided manufacturing (CAM) system including DELCAM FEATURE CAM.
